Currently, around one in ten students nationwide are not meeting NAPLAN standards. In Years 3 and 5, the picture is even starker; nearly one-third of students fall below the minimum benchmark in reading, writing, and numeracy. Results like this don’t appear overnight. They’re the compounding effect of years of missed learning, left for the next school year, and the next teacher to deal with (or not).

That’s why we’ve expanded our NAPLAN Prep Program. Students can now begin with skill-building workshops in the Spring and Summer holidays, laying down strategies and foundations before moving into the more test-focused Accelerator in Term 1, 2026. The workshops complement the Accelerator but also stand on their own as valuable, intensive learning opportunities. By increasing the focus and volume of skill learning upfront, we help students catch up faster, build confidence, and enter Term 1 ready to tackle higher-level demands like timed practice, problem-solving under pressure, and digital familiarisation. Our results at Blue Boots continue to climb, built on explicit teaching, clear expectations, and structured practice. At the heart of this expansion is our ethos: we value a child’s right and ability to read and truly comprehend, think critically and independently, and express their own ideas clearly in writing, unaided and unswayed by technology or the voices around them. These are the skills that matter most: in school, in life, and yes, on the two days a year when NAPLAN testing comes around.
